Conceptual Design
We play a key role in the following areas:
Hydraulic StudiesOur Hydraulic Studies not only include the hydraulic analysis required to meet the functional requirements of a pipeline, but with our expertise we design a system that also considers future expandability issues, optimizes power consumption, and provides maximum flexibility for operating the pipeline under a full range of operating conditions. Facility LayoutProper layout of pump station and terminal facilities is critical to the efficient operation of any pipeline. Our designers strike the optimal balance between operational flexibility and the cost of installing expensive components such as manifold valves, booster pumps and storage tanks. Operations PhilosophyThis important document forms the basis upon which many detailed design decisions will be made, such as what level of remote control and automation is required, how the operation will be staffed, and what preparations are required for linefill and start-up of operations. An operational control philosophy provides a clear vision and definitive focus for your pipeline system that reflects your management's operating strategy. Regulatory RequirementsLeveraging our experience from working closely with regulatory bodies such as the National Energy Board in Canada and the Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission in the United States, we assist customers with understanding and meeting the stringent requirements that are outlined by regulatory agencies worldwide. Tolling MethodologiesHaving implemented the industry's first incentive-tolling system, Enbridge is a North American leader in tolling methodologies. We provide support to customers in developing innovative tolling methodologies that meet the needs of both customers and regulators while maximizing the potential return on investment for shareholders of the pipeline system. |
